Influencers are Marketers, not Salespeople | Lillian Zhang

Welcome to EP 4 of the SaaSfluencer Podcast!

This week, Lillian Zhang and I talked on the SaaSfluencer podcast about her brand deals, information transparency with campaign performance, and how startups can reframe how they think about influencer marketing. She's a product marketer at Google and career content creator (225k+ on IG and TT), and you'll be sure to learn something about SaaS influencer marketing from this episode! 🎧 Listen to the episode ⬇️

Some key takeaways:

🔵 Lillian realized she was saying much of the same information over an over again when other students, or early career professionals would ask for her a coffee chat. So, her initial purpose for using social media was as a means to scale her knowledge through video!

🔵 The difference in expectations and pressure on influencer marketing between established brands and early-stage startups. When working with startups, there’s such a heavy emphasis on conversions; how to reframe this thinking to make the most of your influencer marketing campaigns.

🔵 We talked about how much insight brands share back with creators on the success of their campaigns, (hint: not much!) and how to learn from a great campaign.

🔵 Some of her favorite viral video hacks, including sparking up a bit of controversy for people to participate in the comments, but like, in a civil way.
