🎙 Creator with 340k+ followers helps first-gen professionals navigate the workplace | Colin Rocker
Welcome to SaaSfluencer: the place where SaaS Startups and Influencers come to learn how to drive massive growth together.
Introducing the SaaSfluencer Podcast!
I’m thrilled to announce that our first guest on the SaaSfluencer podcast is Colin Rocker, ex-Deloitte consultant and career content creator with 220k+ followers on IG and 115k+ on TikTok. In this inaugural episode, we talk about Colin’s career journey to becoming an influencer, his insights on his most successful brand partnerships, and the untapped potential of B2B influencer marketing on LinkedIn. Colin also shared some very personal anecdotes on becoming a new dad amidst having just been let go from his job due to his content creation side hustle. It was an insightful and meaningful chat, and I have a feeling you’ll take something away from it.
Some key takeaways:
In 2020, Colin was skeptical of TikTok’s potential to be a legitimate platform for things other than TikTok dances and trends, but after he downloaded the app and was up until 2 am the first night parsing through videos his algorithm placed for him, he knew something was there. It took Colin a bit of experimenting with different content themes before his niche of career advice & consulting eventually found him.
We discussed why brands should invest in B2B influencer marketing, or at least experiment with it. The term “influencer” felt a bit trivializing for these knowledge leaders who are quickly becoming SaaS brand’s top trusted partners.
Untapped potential on LinkedIn as a gold mine for influencer marketing before it’s so highly regulated (and considering the super high-cost nature of running paid ads on LinkedIn, the opportunity cost of not experimenting with LinkedIn as an influencer channel is high).
Colin’s advice if someone is looking to start creating their own content - experimenting and learning about what resonates with people and starting to build an audience authentically.
How brand-creator match, authenticity and storytelling have been the key to his best campaigns (and who his favorite companies have been to work with).
How content creation has actually tangibly affected his style as a manager and pushed him to be a better teammate.
